Victoria University Theatre Company
I worked with the student theatre at Victoria University for two years in a writing, production, and communications capacity. I created a Wordpress site to host our media and a blog, which I regularly updated throughout 2015. Having as much information out there as possible was a really important goal for me.
I had the opportunity to learn a lot about distribution, content creation, and volunteer management. In addition to my role as a production manager on three shows, I ran several social events for members including a movie night and script readings. It was an endlessly rewarding experience.
This is the Merlyn Theatre at the Coopers Malthouse in Southbank. I had the privilege of spending considerable time here in 2017 as part of the inaugural Malthouse Vanguard program, a group of young people seeking to answer big questions about theatre. My involvement with the program constantly challenged me and gifted me with new first-hand experiences of how a theatre company works, from the inside out.
Working Title Salons
My final project with the Victoria University Theatre Company was a short series of interdisciplinary artists' salons at the Bluestone Church Arts Space in Footscray. It was an ambitious and truly special project for me, reaching through our networks to bring together a diverse and talented group of creatives. This image is from the collection exhibited on one of the four nights by local designer and visual artist Nicky Sevior.
I had the pleasure of being the assistant producer for the short film Pin Prick, created by a friend and frequent collaborator. I spontaneously edited together this short blooper reel using footage from our first day of shooting, to give the crew a few giggles when it was all over.
Christmas in July
I had a great time testing out new approaches to content and stagecraft as the producer of Christmas in July (2015), a new one-act play. Along the way, I created this (very rough) trailer. The cast gave it glowing reviews.
